  • Title: Faith Statement
Descriptive info: Our Purpose.. First Baptist Church of Sanlando Springs exists to glorify God by reaching and developing followers of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.. Our Priorities.. Exalt God:.. Worship and praising God "in spirit and truth" is vital to Christian growth and vitality.. As followers of Jesus, every believer is called to have genuine personal devotions and meaningful participation in public worship with other Christians.. Whether personal or public, the goal of worship is an abiding fellowship with our Lord.. Evangelize People:.. Effective evangelism is a priority for every Christian.. A believer has the responsibility of intentionally sharing their faith with others.. As a fellowship of believers, we endeavor to use every means possible to share the Good News of Jesus through all of our ministries and activities.. Equip Believers:.. As a disciple of Christ, every believer is challenged to allow the Holy Spirit to cultivate an ever-deepening walk with the Lord Jesus resulting in a greater understanding and application of biblical truth and participation in ministry and service.. We grow in our own Christian walk as we equip and disciple other Christian.. Empower Ministries:.. We join with God in using our spiritual and material resources for the advancement of Christ's kingdom in the world.. Our Values.. Presence:.. We value the Presence of God in our daily lives and view worship as something we offer to God collectively as a body of believers gathered in celebration and as individuals giving our lives in service "as unto the Lord.. ".. Proclamation:.. We value the conviction that salvation is available through Jesus Christ alone, and that it is the responsibility of every believer to help insure that everyone has an opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel.. Priesthood:.. We value the  ...   only one living and true God revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.. - Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God born of a virgin, crucified, and raised from the dead.. The Spirit empowers and enlightens believers.. Humanity:.. Man and woman were created by the special act of God, in His own image, and as the crowning work of His creation.. They were created innocent of sin and given freedom of choice.. By their free choice they sinned against God and brought sin into the human race.. Salvation:.. Salvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to any who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.. The Church:.. A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local body of baptized believers.. This church is an autonomous body, operating through democratic processes under the Lordship of Christ.. Baptism and the Lord's Supper:.. Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water as an act of obedience.. It symbolizes the believer's faith in Jesus Christ.. It is a prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper.. The Lord's Supper is also a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church remember the death of Christ and anticipate His second coming to the earth.. Last Things:.. God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end.. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge humanity.. Footnote: This is adapted from The Baptist Faith and Message Statement 1963.. For a complete statement please contact our pastors or deacons..
