Descriptive info: Intro.. People are drawn to this Hobby for various reasons.. You may be a Beer or Wine Maker that finds this next level interesting or you have some Skunky batches that you don’t want to throw out.. Or you are a college student trying to get by, and a pressure cooker still and a little knowledge will help you with that.. Or you could be like me.. I thought about this for 10  ...   a copy of MOONSHINE by Matthew Rowley and spawned the revolution.. I built my first still out of a stock pot, large mixing bowl and some copper tubing from Lowes.. I still use it for a beer stripper.. I will explain Beer stripping later.. Just so you know, I have never made a batch of Beer or Wine.. I am in this strictly for the fun of making and drinking my own hooch..

Descriptive info: In the New Distillers Group we have generally sent folks and been sent ourselves to Tony Ackland's very informative site.. http://homedistiller.. org/.. The sight is very informative and mostly made up of posts from these very groups a few years ago.. But all too often the sender (not really a word) winds up right back at the group (not a bad thing) having more questions than answers, and with most of the questions having to do with advanced stuff that most of us never even try in the first year..

Descriptive info: Here, you will learn how to make your first wash from simple grocery store items.. You can go all technical later.. This is the way it should be.. Take my word for it, you will save money, get a drinkable product faster, and have a good chance of sticking with this hobby if you keep reading and follow these instructions.. Yes I am sure you want to jump right in to making rum, or bourbon, or scotch, or vodka, but chances are if your reading this, you don’t have a clue how to get there.. So here we go..

Descriptive info: The first thing you need to do is decide what kind of Still you want.. That question brings up another question.. What kind of Spirit do you want to make? Do you want to make Bourbon? Rum? Corn Whiskey? Well then, these require a simple Pot Still.. Vodka? Your gonna need a reflux still to do that one.. If you know for a  ...   still.. Most of us will not be satisfied with this though.. If your like me and like to experiment then you will without a doubt want it ALL, which brings us to the Reflux still.. Most of these designs can be run as a Pot Still for making whiskeys and Rums which will be referred to from here on as Flavor Positive Spirits (FPS)..
